Halloween Fun for Irish Soccer

Oct 31, 2012, 9:57 AM EDT

One of the downsides to playing a sport in college is that you sometimes have to miss out on fun events like Halloween. This year, instead of dressing up for Halloween, the Notre Dame women’s soccer team will be traveling to Connecticut as they prepare to take on Marquette in the BIG EAST semifinals.

Luckily, the Irish were able to celebrate Halloween early with a dinner hosted by head coach Randy Waldrum and his wife, Diana. The dinner, held at Coach Waldrum’s house, gave the team the perfect chance to partake in Halloween festivities through delicious food, fun games, and good company, all while showing off their Halloween costumes.

Coach Waldrum even dressed up for the dinner and welcomed the team into his home as Santa Claus. Two of the freshman, Glory Williams and Mary Schwappach, used the dinner as an oppourtunity to poke fun at the coaches by dressing up as Coach Waldrum and assistant coach Ken Nuber. Some of the other costumes seen by members of the team included tourists, babies, black cats, and minions.
