  9. Klazura and Rose Abroad: “Masters of Logistics”

    Feb 18, 2014, 3:13 PM EDT

Methembe took us to Matopos National Park, about an hour south of town with his son Mdu and the visiting Jeff Cook. Coach Cook is the former Dartmouth Head coach and current Philadelphia Union Academy Coach.

A rocky hill top with breathtaking views in the middle of Matopos is the burial place of Cecil John Rhodes, the founder of British ruled Rhodesia which later became independent Zimbabwe. Although Rhodes ironically lived most of his life in South Africa he chose Matopos as his gravesite, not a bad choice. We were able to see some baboons, monkeys, and a of couple miniature deer. Mdu claims he saw zebras and a whole pride of lions. I remain skeptical.
